Engineering & Activism

My mother (…) never stopped pressing me to do more for others. A few days before my wedding, she hosted a bridal event, at which she read aloud a letter about marriage that she had written to Melinda (…) and at the close of the letter she said: “From those to whom much is given, much is expected.”

Bill Gates, Harvard University Graduation, 2007

“So the advice I would have to college students is to acknowledge the world the way it is (and) acknowledge your privilege. Understand that there are things that could be done. And that there’s not one path but many if we want to take on these problems. Do what you like. Just save a little bit of your time for activism and social justice work.”

During the year we have several options, one of these is “Engineering and Activism”. With this course we start projects and think of ways to link our engineering skills with humanitarian activities.

Here are a some of our creations… (Click on the links to check them out!)

Round’Up

As part of the option Engineering & Activism we have created a promotion video.

Our idea was to bring online retailers to offer the possibility for the customer to round up the price of their purchase, giving the difference to charity.
